Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

A decadent dessert with a dense, buttery crust and a rich, gooey top layer. Sweet, simple, and utterly irresistible.

Ingredients
  

  • Crust:
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • Topping:
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Spatula

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking dish.
  2. Combine cake mix, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup butter to form a dough. Press into the bottom of the dish.
  3. Beat cream cheese until smooth, then add eggs, vanilla, powdered sugar, and butter. Mix well.
  4. Pour topping over crust and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden but slightly jiggly in the center.
  6. Cool completely before cutting.
