Comfort food doesn't get better than this recipe. Perfect for busy weeknight dinners or weekend gatherings, these French dip biscuits offer a delicious twist on the traditional sandwich. Each bite delivers rich, savory flavors that will have everyone at the table asking for seconds.

Ingredients
  

  • For the Beef
  • 3-4 pounds chuck roast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Au Jus
  • 1 cup reserved beef cooking liquid
  • 1/4 cup red wine optional
  • Biscuit Components
  • 8 fresh buttermilk biscuits
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Equipment

  • Slow cooker or large Dutch oven
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowls
  • Serving platter

Method
 

  1. Season chuck roast generously with salt and pepper
  2. Brown meat in olive oil until golden on all sides
  3. Transfer meat to slow cooker
  4. Pour beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over roast
  5. Cook on low for 8 hours until meat is tender
  6. Shred beef using two forks
  7. Toast biscuits and spread with butter
  8. Layer shredded beef on biscuits
  9. Strain cooking liquid for dipping sauce
