 spiced apple & maple caramel cake

Equipment

  • 9-inch round cake pan
  • Mixing bowls (medium and large)
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack
  • Wooden spoon

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • Apple Filling:
  • 3 medium apples diced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Maple Caramel Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  • Grease cake pan with butter
  • Mix dry cake ingredients in a bowl
  • Combine wet ingredients separately
  • Fold dry and wet mixtures together
  • Fold in diced apples
  • Pour batter into prepared pan
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes
  • Cool completely before adding maple caramel sauce
