smothered chicken recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan
  • Sharp chef's knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Method
 

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper
  2. Heat olive oil in skillet over medium-high heat
  3. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown
  4. Remove chicken and set aside
  5. Add garlic to pan, sauté for 30 seconds
  6. Pour in chicken broth and cream
  7. Return chicken to pan
  8. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until sauce thickens
