Ravioli Sauce Recipe

By making your own sauce, you control what goes into it. This lets you create a perfect match for your pasta. Whether you're new to cooking or experienced, making a homemade ravioli sauce is simple.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 15 oz crushed tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
  • ½ cup heavy cream for a creamy version
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for spice
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese optional, for richness
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)

Equipment

  • Large skillet or saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and cutting board (if using fresh ingredients)

Method
 

  1. Sauté the Garlic
  2. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Cook the Sauce
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well.
  6. Add salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  7. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Make It Creamy (Optional)
  9. Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream for a creamy sauce.
  10. Add Parmesan cheese and mix until melted and smooth.
