- Prepare beef stroganoff ingredients by slicing meat against the grain
- Season meat with salt and pepper
- Heat skillet over medium-high heat
- Cook beef until browned (approximately 3-4 minutes)
- Remove beef, sauté mushrooms and onions
- Add garlic, cook for 1 minute
- Sprinkle flour, stir to create roux
- Pour beef broth, simmer for 5 minutes
- Reduce heat, stir in sour cream
- Return beef to skillet, heat through
