easy sushi bake recipe

Sushi bake is all the rage, making sushi easy for anyone to make. It's perfect for beginners or experienced cooks. This dish is fun to make and brings people together. You can add your favorite ingredients to make it your own, keeping the Japanese flavors.

Ingredients
  

  • For the Sushi Rice:
  • 3 cups cooked sushi rice
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 lb 450g imitation crab (or cooked salmon/tuna), shredded
  • ½ cup Japanese mayo Kewpie
  • 1 tbsp sriracha adjust for spice level
  • 1 tbsp cream cheese softened (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • For Topping & Garnish:
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp furikake Japanese seaweed seasoning
  • 1 green onion sliced
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • Nori seaweed sheets, for serving

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Rice cooker or pot (for cooking rice)
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Knife & cutting board

Method
 

  1. Prepare the Rice:
  2. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.
  3. Pour over cooked rice and mix well. Spread evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  4. Make the Filling:
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded imitation crab, Japanese mayo, sriracha, cream cheese, and soy sauce.
  6. Assemble & Bake:
  7. Spread the crab mixture evenly over the rice.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  10. Garnish & Serve:
  11. Sprinkle furikake, green onions, and sesame seeds on top.
  12. Serve warm with nori sheets for scooping or rolling.
