crispy onion rings

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large sweet onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray

Equipment

  • Large baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Wire cooling rack
  • Three shallow mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Sharp knife

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F
  2. Slice onions into 1/2-inch thick rings
  3. Separate rings and pat dry
  4. Prepare three coating stations:
  5. First bowl: seasoned flour
  6. Second bowl: whisked eggs
  7. Third bowl: seasoned breadcrumbs
  8. Dip each ring in flour, egg, then breadcrumbs
  9. Place coated rings on parchment-lined baking sheet
  10. Spray rings lightly with cooking spray
  11. Bake 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway
  12. Remove when golden and crispy
