Imagine a dessert that embodies Southern hospitality: caramel pecan dream bars. They mix gooey caramel with crunchy pecans for a heavenly taste.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the baking pan.
  2. Mix flour, 1/2 cup butter, and brown sugar. Press into pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, combine remaining butter, granulated sugar, cream, and corn syrup. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in pecans, vanilla, and salt.
  5. Pour mixture over baked crust. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
