beef and broccoli

Busy cooks can make a tasty beef and broccoli dish at home. It's better than takeout. You'll love the tender beef, crisp broccoli, and savory sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound flank steak thinly sliced
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Equipment

  • Large wok or non-stick skillet
  • Sharp chef's knife
  • Cutting board
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Method
 

  1. Slice beef against the grain into thin strips
  2. Mix sauce ingredients in a small bowl
  3. Heat oil in wok or skillet over high heat
  4. Stir-fry beef for 2-3 minutes until browned
  5. Add broccoli and cook for additional 3-4 minutes
  6. Pour sauce over beef and broccoli
  7. Stir until sauce thickens
  8. Serve hot with rice
