Air Fryer Zucchini Fries with Garlic Aioli Recipe

Air fryer recipes are all the rage, and our zucchini fries are no exception. They have a crunchy outside and a soft inside. This makes them a guilt-free snack that still hits the spot. Plus, the garlic aioli takes these fries from a simple side to a fancy appetizer you can make at home.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium zucchinis about 400 g, cut into fries
  • 50 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 75 g breadcrumbs preferably panko for extra crispiness
  • 30 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon 2 g garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon 2 g dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil spray for air frying
  • For the Garlic Aioli:
  • 80 g mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon 15 g lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic 5 g, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1 g salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1 g black pepper

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk or spoon for mixing the coating
  • Small bowl for the aioli
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Tongs or spatula

Method
 

  1. Prepare the Zucchini – Wash and cut the zucchinis into fries. Make sure they’re of uniform size for even cooking.
  2. Set up the Breading Station – In one bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Zucchini Fries – First, dip each zucchini fry into the flour, making sure it’s fully coated. Then, dip it into the egg mixture, and finally coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer – Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for about 5 minutes.
  5. Air Fry the Zucchini Fries – Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated zucchini fries in a single layer in the basket. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Prepare the Garlic Aioli – While the fries are cooking, mix together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
  7. Serve – Once the zucchini fries are crispy, remove them from the air fryer and serve immediately with the garlic aioli for dipping.
